Washington DC - NADA Insider Trip

The Dallas Car Wife: Washington, D.C.

Just before our Nation's Independence Day, The Dallas Car Wife (Lindsey Stuart-Williams of course) visited Washington, DC and got to know some really great Auto Dealers at NADA Dealer Management Academy. While enjoying the fabulous industry gossip- You know I will spill some!- I enjoyed luxurious accommodations at the Ritz Carlton, Tyson's Corner.

Gossipy Tidbit #1- The War Room inside the Ritz
The "upper crust" dealers enjoy their own private study hall inside the Ritz. For a fee, Ritz Club Level guests enjoy a private bar with complimentary appetizers, fine wines and spirits. The Ritz even allows these "California Guys" to send up their own wine before hand. This is a far cry from the average University "quad"...Check out the "dorm"...

Gossipy Tidbit #2-Don't ever order Strawberries
There have been dealer candidates that have stayed at the Ritz and other local hotels who have worn out their welcome by entertaining certain paid by the hour guests. What my husband has told me: Watch out for the women who eat strawberries. Apparently that is their..ahem..."for sale" sign. And also watch out for fed up concierge and front desk personnel. Rumor is, one dealer was entertaining a lady in his room and was rudely interrupted by his wife. Apparently, the front desk gave the wife the key because she flew in to DC to surprise her loving husband who missed her ever so much. Apparently no one ever warned that guy not to tick off the "little" people...and obviously to stay away from the strawberry-girls.

Gossipy Tidbit #3- Be prepared that NADA school is not a cake walk!
So many Dealer Candidates have come to NADA Academy thinking it was just a formality. Not true. Drunken nights can and will equal failing a test. Unlike in college, this is not the place to find the most rowdy, stereotypical sales monsters and become blood brothers. This is the place to find potential business partners, members for your 20 Group and other important colleagues for along your journey in the Dealer world. Find the nerds, the smart kids and the brown-nosing do-gooders. They will come in handy come study time (see gossipy tidbit #1). If you're not ready to get down and dirty in the books then stay home. The nice guys don't like the nasty reputation.

Until Next Time! xoxo
